Health Benefits of Vinegar
Vinegar is one of the oldest of foods and medicines, known to man. As a medicine, it’s been used for thousands of years. In 400 B.C.E., Hypocrites, the “Father of Medicine,” gave his patients vinegar to help them heal and from this, we got one of the world’s first medicines. It is used both internally and as a topical dressing to heal infections and wounds.
Vinegar, in its natural state, contains as many as fifty different nutrients, amino acids, and trace elements. These all contribute to vinegar’s medicinal properties as well as its distinctive taste. Vinegar is high in acetic acid which increases the body’s ability to absorb minerals and calcium.
Vinegar can also be used in place of other less healthy condiments such as salt or those high in saturated trans fats.
